Check out the best of the best at these upcoming handmade artisanal shopping events in Sydney this Christmas.


The Big Design Market

Featuring the best of independent designers, selling a range of exclusive goods, you will be sure to find the perfect present here for the person in your life who appreciates quality design and originality. With 200 stallholders, you will be spoilt for choice! Find the likes of Karmme, Hayden Youlley Design and The Racentour in amongst the mix. $2 entry.

Etsy Made Local Markets

Sydney makers will converge on Central Park this weekend for an epic outdoor market day, featuring over 100 local Etsy makers. Make a day of it: bring your dog, grab lunch from the food stalls and say g’day to some fabulous makers including jeweller Leonie Simpson, artist Benconservato, ceramist Rob Fuller and designers Outer Island.

When: Saturday 25th November, 10am - 5pm
Where: Brewery Yard (Chippendale Green – Behind Central Park Mall), 28 Broadway, Chippendale



Christmas Gift Galleria at The Tribe

The Tribe will be launching the Christmas season with an opening night shopping party, on Friday 1 December. Set in a vibrant store featuring artwork and homewears by Australian makers, there will be a burst of new makers in the shop, popping up especially for the silly season! Grab a drink and some nibbles, shop and enjoy a free gift wrapping service.

Gifted: Artisan Market Day at the Happenstore

20 talented artisans present their wares, just in time for the festive season, within the beautiful creative retail space that is the Happenstore. Find lots of unique, handcrafted items that will excite and inspire, along with festive edible treats by Flour and Stone. Makers include Felt Wilde, Fiona Roderick, and Trade the Mark, just to name a few.

When: Saturday 2 December, 10am – 4pm
Where: The Happenstore, 55 Parramatta Road, Annandale


Christmas at Blak Markets

A family friendly market at Barangaroo, where you can find beautiful handmade work, eat bushtucker and enjoy lots of entertainment on show. 
Blak Markets will have three remote Aboriginal art centres from outback Australia bringing the very best and latest fine artwork to the December market. The profit from sales of artwork, jewellery, handicrafts and homewears, will 100% go back into Aboriginal communities.

Object Shop Christmas Shopping Night

Enjoy a relaxed night of Christmas shopping with unique gift ideas at the Australian Design Centre’s Object Shop. This festive celebration allows you to discover handmade, designed and collectible gifts made by over 60 local and interstate makers and designers. Some of the makers will be there on the night for you to meet the person who made your gift. Vanessa Ion will also be offering some crafty Christmas crochet tips and Outer Island will be personalising their Christmas ornaments. Enjoy a drink while you browse and get your gifts wrapped for free.

When: Wednesday 6 December, 6pm - 8pm 
Where: Australian Design Centre, 113-115 William Street, Darlinghurst


Finders Keepers

Over 200 local and Australian makers will be showcasing their wares in this big art and design market held at Barangaroo. These hugely popular curated markets, keep growing and growing and always feature new debut artists to keep the markets fresh. Find some of our favourite makers there on the day – Eggpicnic, Fortynine Studio, Public Holiday and The Raisin did it! Entry $2.

When: Weekend 8-10 December
Where: The Cutaway, Barangaroo Reserve, 1 Merriman St, Barangaroo



Christmas Fare 2017

Sydney Living Museums will be hosting a Christmas Fare at the historic Hyde Park Barracks Museum, featuring over forty artisan makers. Find lots of delicious yummy treats from gourmet food vendors and head down Makers Lane, curated by the Australian Design Centre, to find handmade goods by Object Shop makers Katherine Mahoney, Milly Dent, Denise McDonald and Sophia Emmett (just to name a few)! Gold coin entry.

When: Thursday 14 December, 4pm - 9pm
Where: Hyde Park Barracks Museum, Queens Square, Macquarie Street, Sydney


Christmas 2017 Dreamers Market

A curated market featuring art, craft and design work made from the heart and all 100% Australian handmade. Find lots of treats and treasures here, made by 'dreamers' - the artisan makers.

When: Saturday 16 December, 9:30am - 2:30pm
Where: Riverside Theatres, Cnr Church and Market Sts, Parramatta
