Mindfulness and Sustainability Workshops

To celebrate Sydney Craft Week, COMMUNE have curated a very special line up of workshops centred around mindfulness and sustainability. Whether you choose to join them for just one or the whole series, these workshops will leave you with a new outlook on craft and life!

Japanese Clay Techniques with Mukumono: Using Japanese techniques and methods you can mimic at home or in your studio, this hands-on workshop with Mukumono’s Ion Fukazawa will show you how to make simple plates, dishes, bowls and planters; proving you don’t need a wheel or slab roller to make beautiful ceramics. After the workshop, your handmade pieces will be glazed and fired for you to collect in 2-3 weeks.

The Art of Kokedama with Tiny Paradise: Come along and let Hilary Woodfine of Tiny Paradise introduce you to the traditional art form of Kokedama, where a plant’s root system is bound with moss and string. Throughout this two hour, hands-on workshop you’ll be guided through the creation of two Kokedamas, meanwhile learning about Wabi-Sabi philosophy and how to embrace imperfection and impermanence across all aspects of your life.
