The Good Cup by The Australian Ceramics Association
This special afternoon event in a beautiful old bakery/artist studio explores what makes ‘a good cup’ with three makers who will share their thoughts on function, the importance of design and their unique approaches to the handmade cup. Chris James will demonstrate throwing forms on the wheel and how he makes his unique handles. Sophie Moran will discuss how daily use and observation of handmade cups inform her own intent when making functional drinking vessels. Kati Watson will share attributes of cups she likes to use, along with why she makes cups.
Bring along your favourite cup as a talking point, along with a cup which is perhaps not so successful. Participants are also encouraged to bring along up to 10 cups to sell and/or swap.
Details: Saturday 14 October, 1pm – 4pm, $58; TACA members $48 (inc gst), includes afternoon tea, purchase via TACA’s online shop
