Form | Surface | Structure: Sculptural Ceramics

Kerrie Lowe Gallery specialises in Ceramics ranging from tableware that is a delight to use to complex sculptural forms. Our Sydney Craft Week exhibition will present sculpture from ceramicists across Australia. This is a look at the individual approach of each artist and will include wall-mounted objects, sculptural vessels and large works. The underlying theme is the diversity of work that can be created in the medium of clay. The exhibition as a whole presents an overview of an exciting art form. Sculptures may be figurative or abstract, handbuilt or thrown and altered. They may use pristine white porcelain, vibrantly coloured underglaze, surface treatments such as soda firing, glaze or ash from woodfire. The work in this group exhibition is representative of the close knit Australian ceramics community and their passion for an artform so closely connected to the earth.
