Sew Make Create in Chippendale run a range of creative workshops with a hand-picked selection for Sydney Craft Week.

Natural Scent Blending with Essential Oils Workshop: Learn about the most popular essential oils for blending, olfactory families and the fundamentals of creating a balanced aromatic blend. Create your unique scent to make a 10ml roll-on perfume and a matching, natural, 100g jar of hand cream.

Natural Dyeing Workshop: This intimate workshop will focus on dye methods with a low environmental impact. Learn how to look for and identify potential sources of colour, use foraged or bought botanicals, kitchen waste, and often overlooked pantry staples items. You will get to dye a silk scarf and sample swatches.

We will extract colour together from ingredients like avocados, onion skins, turmeric, eucalyptus, flowers and foliage, to dye various fabric samples, learn some basic shibori dyeing, and also how to steam flowers and leaves to make a bundle dye print.

Boomerang Bags FREE Sewing Bee: Boomerang Bags Inner West in a community organisation where volunteers sew bags from donated fabric and fabric destined for landfill. These bags are given away for free to local businesses in the Inner West and Dulwich Hill areas of Sydney to encourage the sustainable practice of plastic-bag-free shopping. Sew Make Create will be hosting a community sewing bees with Boomerang Bags Inner West as part of Craft Week. This workshop is free if you would like to contribute a bit of your time to join the local community.
